Biography

Alex Mitchell is an award-winning stand-up comedian, writer, actor and podcaster who has become one of the most exciting and distinctive new voices on the UK comedy circuit.

Just eighteen months after his first open mic, Alex reached the final of Britain’s Got Talent. The following year he was a finalist in the prestigious Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year competition. Since then he has become a regular at many of the UK’s biggest comedy venues, performing in clubs and theatres including The Stand, Glee, Up the Creek, Backyard and Komedia Brighton, and at corporate events across the country, with leading venues praising his writing, noting that “every line has something hilarious in it.” His writing was further recognised when he won Joke of the Festival at the Nottingham Comedy Festival in 2025.

Alex is queer, autistic and disabled, and much of his work draws on these experiences. He uses his growing platform to champion charities and organisations supporting disabled and LGBTQ+ communities. He has written and performed two critically acclaimed solo shows which sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2024 and 2025, toured across the UK, appeared on Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, NextUp Comedy and Heart Radio, and provided tour support for Hal Cruttenden.

Alongside his stand-up, Alex created and hosts the podcast Queers On, which celebrates LGBTQ+ voices and creatives from across the UK. Known for his sharp writing and disarmingly honest storytelling, Alex is becoming a favourite with audiences across the UK.
