Joshua Robertson is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor. Joshua originally began his comedy career in Australia, performing in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.
After conquering down under, Joshua has toured New York City, Indonesia and the UK, where he now resides.
Joshua’s charming personality and cheeky grin can be seen on the UK circuit, and at Fringe Festivals including those in Brighton, Camden and Adelaide. Joshua has also supported Tom Stade and Shappi Khorsandi on Tour, and has performed to royalty at the Rose Theatre, Kingston.
Alongside his impressive stand-up performances, Joshua is a talented writer and actor. DAD JOKE, a comedy short which Joshua co-wrote and stars in, was commissioned by the BFI NETWORK and Film London, premiering at the BFI London Film Festival. DAD JOKE is loosely based on Joshua’s own life, where it sees a disabled comedian performing a make-or-break gig the night his first child is born. Multiple successes soon followed, as Joshua received “best lead actor” for the work, at the Oxford International Short Film Festival. It was also chosen to be developed into a TV series by Edinburgh Film Festival's Talent Lab Connects.
" when you’re holding the room, you can afford to slow down and people will happily stay with you. " – Peter Fox
Joshua has appeared on the BBC3 Series Amazing Humans, that shared his story of how he thought he would never walk or talk again, after spending four months in a coma following a severe motorbike accident at the age of 11. Joshua lives with a physical disability, but certainly doesn’t let it define him, picking up awards for his work including the 2015 Joker of the Year and Yellow Comedian of the Year 2017.
Joshua is also an ambassador for Calmer, an award-winning organisation which provides Mental Health and Wellbeing training to businesses, entrepreneurs and freelancers.
Joshua’s unique ability to tell his story combined with his witty humour is a combination that works perfectly, whether it’s on stage or on screen.
