From Soho Takeovers to Drag Race – February at Gag Reflex

February has arrived and we’re straight into it at Gag Reflex. With lots happening across shows, tours, and the office, there’s plenty to share. Let’s dive into a few highlights from the past few weeks.

What’s been happening…?

We’re thrilled to share that we are now representing Patrick Monahan! Irish Iranian Teesside observational stand up comedian Patrick Monahan has been described as ‘clever, funny and hugely likeable’ from the Scotsman and ‘Rip Roaringly funny’. A fan favourite at the Edinburgh Fringe, we’re excited to work with him and showcase his talent to even more audiences!

We were recently in London for our Industry Showcase! Rosco McClelland, Sooz Kempner, Aaron Simmonds & Jessie Nixon all took to the stage at Seven Dials Playhouse in London. The evening was a great success and our acts smashed their performances! We’re excited to tease that there may be another event on the horizon, so keep your eyes peeled!

We have exciting news for magic fans in Australia. Ben Hart is performing in London Calling this February, as part of Adelaide Fringe. A high-octane celebration of cabaret, circus, magic and comedy. Tickets are available on the Adelaide Fringe website.

What’s coming up…!

Soho Theatre won’t know what hit it! Gag Reflex is taking over with Rosco McClelland, Jessie Nixon, and James Barr delivering top-tier comedy performances this year! Each of them are bringing their hit 1-hour shows to London and we couldn’t be more excited! Tickets for each performance are available here. We’ll see you there!

Wankernomics are going from strength to strength, having just announced their 4th London Palladium date! Their show, Just Touching Base has been a huge hit with audiences and shows no signs of slowing down. Grab your tickets here, before they disappear!
Their Autumn tour is also on sale now!! With two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, 50 million+ views online and a Sunday Times best-selling book, the boys are back with a brand new show – SHOW_V4.1_FINAL_USETHIS. Get your tickets here!

Alex Mitchell’s podcast, Queers On, is back for a second series! Each week Alex Mitchell and Hollie Noble discuss a new topic from a queer perspective, with occasional help from special guests and experts. Series 2 promises even more useless advice, silly true stories, laughs and unapologetically LGBTQ content. Be sure to tune, wherever you get your podcasts.

Not long to go until Adelaide Fringe!! Our acts are really excited to head Down Under this March and showcase their talent. Laser Kiwi are performing their brand-new show, Everybody Knows, armed with world-class circus skills and their signature brand of surreal sketch comedy. Tickets can be found hereTape Face is celebrating 20 years and showcasing where this worldwide journey began. Get your tickets here.

Kate Butch has officially started her race for the crown on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World All Stars! We’re two episodes in and Kate is already making it into the top Queens of the Week. In episode 1 she made everyone laugh with her fabulous live rendition of Maybe On this Occasion (which you can stream/download here), followed by her statement British-themed gown modeled on the runway.
Episode 2 saw her giving a past runway look a new lease of life, before changing up one of her competitors’ former outfits too. Make sure you tune in every Tuesday night at 9pm, and if you love Drag Race then come and see Kate off screen and live on tour!

Adam Kay has been across the water, kicking off his tour of This Is Going To Hurt in Ireland! Fans have been treated to his signature storytelling, sharp wit, and unforgettable live performances. Have a closer look at the venues he’s coming to and get your tickets before they sell out!

Inside Gag HQ…!

Laser Kiwi got some exciting visitors to their Palazzo show in Hamburg! Beth from our festivals department, and Hannah from corporate & cruises, spent a few days in sunny Hamburg catching up with Laser Kiwi and attending their show (tickets are still available here). The girls squeezed in some local culture too, making the most of the city while ticking off a bit of work along the way.

Hannah barely had 5 minutes being back in the UK before she was jetting off to Singapore to join Tape Face on a cruise for a few weeks. Swapping her desk for the decks of a ship, Hannah headed out as artist liaison, getting to know even more about life at sea and the cruise world.

That’s all for this month! Keep your eyes peeled for the next edition as you never know what news or behind-the-scenes fun we’ll be sharing next.
