Biography

Mr John Robertson has been a stand-up comic for over 20 years, as well as an improviser, author, actor, streamer, TV presenter and viral sensation. He created the cult classic interactive touring show The Dark Room, wrote the Puffin novel The Little Town Of Marrowville, and his shows have headlined stages in the UK, Australia and the U.S including Glastonbury, PAX, Download Festival, MCM Comic-Con, UK Games Expo, BlueDot, Worldcon and a million other places.

John has sold out his runs at the Edinburgh Fringe from 2019 – 2025, and both his stand-up work and The Dark Room have firmly established him as a high-octane improviser with a large following. John is for everyone, whether you’re queer, POC, elderly, disabled, neurodivergent or even straight, if you like your comedy loud and in-your-face, he’ll come.

With his deep knowledge of pop culture and gaming lore John and The Dark Room perform every year all around the world at comic-cons, gaming conventions, geek events and rock festivals.

When The Dark Room is pointed towards charity work it’s raised over £100,000 for organisations including NHS, Samaritans, Shelter, Mermaids, End The Virus Of Racism, Special Effect and The Trussell Trust.

Corporate and Private Events:

John is available as either a stand-up or MC for your corporate or private event. He also offers a customized The Dark Room show, if you’d like your company to be trapped inside a live-action videogame! Previous clients include Google, Bethesda, Jagex, NQ64, Sumo Digital and the BBC.

Gag Reflex manage John’s live , corporate and festival bookings.
